Broadwater Outing – April 2025

After missing out last month, thanks to Tropical Cyclone Alfred, we were very happy to have great weather for the weekend. A total of fifteen units, with 28 people, came, including Keith and Sandra, our September 2025 hosts. They drove out to check if their motorhome would make it down the track. They were sure it wouldn’t, so they left before anyone else turned up. CMCA members from Grafton, Mark and Tracey also came for the first of hopefully many visits.

Ray D. came down with a brand-new tarpaulin to put over the gazebo frame, giving us a dry and shady spot to enjoy. Some people came on Thursday to enjoy the peace and quiet. Friday dawned a little cloudy, but good enough to start the fun with Anna running the Finska match, with Ray B. winning, Mark second, and Marjorie third. The campfire was running to take any coolness off the breeze, and we all sat around chatting, enjoying Happy Hour. Many had jaffles to cook up a meal for dinner.

On Saturday, with Tony and Tim both away, Don T. collected the fees, then many went for a walk down the beach to collect any flotsam to help in making a veranda wind charm or hanging. Ken came with many tools to help assemble the found bits, as well as the items supplied to decorate the hangings.

In the afternoon, the Annual Broadwater Golf Classic was held, with much mirth coming from the shrubbery.

Gary was the final winner, with a score of 7. Following this, we held the raffles, then, after a lot of work by Nola, Anna, Shirley and Robo, who prepared a supplied meal of barbecued kebabs, and a choice of four salads, on wraps, was enjoyed by all. This was followed up by dessert. Sunday, everyone packed up and went on their way, with most saying they will be coming to the May Outing at Dilkoon.

Regards, Don B.
