Well, didn’t we have a fantastic week out at Bob’s and Veronica’s place.
The weather was kind to us, we scored only a little light drizzle a couple of times, but not enough to slow things down.
Ken brought an old fireplace guard along, making one of the fireplaces so much safer, and with an old sign making a wind shield, it made for a great fire.
The ladies quickly set up a table in the shed so they could play card games to their heart’s content.
We had a total of 16 vans and 30 people stay, including Ron and Jennelle from New Englanders, and Mark’s brother Neil and Dianne who are CMCA members and came to check if we are a good chapter they would like to be in. To fit in all the tasks, some people stayed six nights, others as their other requirements dictated, stayed anywhere from five nights, to a day visit. Anna couldn’t come as her knee was so sore she couldn’t travel, so we sent her a get-well card signed by everyone to let her know we are thinking of her.
We also had 15 Golden Oldies come for lunch on Friday, including Margaret, Shirley, Graham, Barry and Mavis, Brent and Ellie, Rex, Barry and Dot, Barry and Nancy, Brian and Deb, and Patricia.
Nola and her helpers made enough soup to feed 45 people, with some let over for another day, and as usual it was all so yummy. It was Margaret’s 88th Birthday on 11 May, so Carla presented her with a birthday card which had been signed by everyone present.
On Thursday we played Finska, which was won by Helen with a masterful throw at the 3 Pin, second was Gary. On Saturday we played a second game, this time Tim won, and Bob was second.
On Thursday night we had a shared meal, with everyone contributing part of the meal, either main or dessert, some sat inside the shed, others around the campfires, and everyone had a good time.
After lunch on Friday we ran the raffles, with some of our visitors getting lucky and taking home a prize with them.
By Saturday night, it was dark enough and cold enough, and so many people having already left, to make playing Bingo something too hard to do, so it was postponed to a later outing.
I was last out of the gate on Sunday, and it appears everyone got home safely.
