Due to a lot of different factors, many happy campers were not able to make it to Broadwater this time. We ended up with a total of 8 vans with 15 people spread out over the campground. Rob and June were able to call in for an hour or so on the way to another appointment as well.
The weather was dry, with cool nights, and mostly clear days, although there was light afternoon cloud building up on Tuesday, Thursday was cloudy all day, and on Saturday some cloud passed over us. Ray was not there to set up the big marquee, so we either sat in the sun, or sought out a shady tree.
The ladies very quickly set up tables for card games or jigsaw puzzles, and Tony reconstructed a fridge vent that a naughty tree had ripped off the top of his van on the way in. Carla ran a couple of Craft sessions, making little angels and decorating pens. The Trade Table was set up with some products selling, with the proceeds going to Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
The Wednesday Disc Bowls event was deferred to a later outing, so we were able to continue to sit and catch up on happenings.
6pm was considered too late and dark to have tea, so we used the campfire to make jaffles at sunset.
On Thursday, the Pro-Am golf tournament occurred with Elaine winning, Bob second, and Gary was third. Prizes were given accordingly.
There weren’t enough people to play Bingo, so that was deferred. Again, we had the campfire to help with tea, making jaffles, and others used the trailer bbq, as well as salads being shared.
On Friday the fees were collected by Tim, with most of the takings being set aside to be donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. We played an uphill battle of Finska, with Ron winning, followed by Lorraine, then Bob.
Seeing it continued to get dark so early, it was decided to have our main meal at lunchtime, so the jaffles were working overtime, and the trailer bbq was pressed into service again. Thanks, Nola, for doing such a great job cleaning the bbq.
We then had the raffles, even with a small group it was still an impressive array of products available. Again, Bingo was set aside.
Saturday was the time to go, so we packed up and left, many thanks to Ray and Pauline for their hospitality.
