What a great place for an outing. For any future outings, we have been told there is power available (at a cost, of course).
As you see from the background of the photos, it was a dry week, not like last year where it was too wet underfoot to drive on. We did have a couple of little spits on Friday and Saturday, but nothing fell in the rain gauge.
With the four-day, five-night format, some people were able to come for all the time, others that already had commitments came when they could, and left when they had to.
Being so close to Grafton, people with cars were able to slip into town for meals, or essential shopping, and most went to the Grafton District Services Club for tea on Friday night.
As soon as there were sufficient ladies to play cards, they played in the School Shelter Shed, or under the huge Plane Tree, or even bigger Moreton Bay Fig Tree, which was over 140 years old.
After morning tea on Friday, we christened Carla’s Finska game, and the match was won by Marjorie, with Robo second, and Don B third.
After lunch we sat around the tables and worked on Play-Doh Easter, with Nola winning a stuffed bunny which was put to good use.
On Saturday we gave our hard-earned money to Tim, then strolled over to the Alumny Creek School Museum, as well as the Teacher’s Residence, which were opened up for us by Noeline, and we spent a lot of time amazed at the work that has gone into providing information on the school, and also the area in general, with every wall covered in photos, and displays of all sorts of things.
In the afternoon, we gathered to decorate Easter eggs, and Lorraine won this effort, with another stuffed bunny, which she donated to Elaine as a consolation prize.
After that we had two live Easter Bunnies come around and offer chocolate eggs to everyone.
By Sunday, everyone had left, hopefully to be able to come back soon to a great campground, and an interesting museum.
