Coraki Outing – October 2025

At least it was fantastic weather at Coraki, although a little smoky at times with the cane fires. It wasn’t like last time when we were evacuated by the SES with a possible flood caused by the Richmond and the Wilsons Rivers being affected by heavy rain.

Don T. and Yvonne couldn’t come as the gearbox in their Coaster threw in the towel on Wednesday, and Don M. and Chris decided to head back south so Chris could prepare for an operation. That meant we were down to nine units with 16 people, and as well, Rob & June called in for a short visit on Friday.

By Thursday, everyone had turned up. The ladies quickly set up a table to play their card games. In the afternoon, we played Finska, with the winner being Pam, second was Ray, and third being Terry. A golf course was set up, with Ray being the winner. Then, in a gold-coin toss closest to a bottle of Mother O’Leary’s, Ray again won. We then relaxed and chatted through Happy Afternoon in the shade of the huge ficus, followed by Finger Food Dinner. There were many healthy and unhealthy items to select from to fill us up, then some retired early, some sat around the TV, and some sat around the fire pit.

On Friday, after morning tea and fee payments, we played Pictionary, men against women. Terry thought he had a winner by drawing the logo of the back of the card on the sketch pad, but his blackboard easel pointed out that wasn’t how the game was played. The whole game devolved into a fun time, with no winners. Following this was Games of Skill, with Jenga (but we didn’t know all the rules, so it became a stalemate), Smiling Faces, War Money, and Bouncing 5 Ping Pong Balls into a Cup. Again, we just had fun with no declared winners.

In the afternoon, we all bought raffle tickets, and then Happy Afternoon followed. In the evening, we all strolled over to the Coraki Hotel Bistro for a very enjoyable meal, with a wide variety on the menu. Many stayed up, sitting around the fire pit, while others sought an early sleep.

On Saturday, we had to leave as the Park was booked out, so we can all catch up again at Jacaranda, 29 Oct to 02 Nov 2025.
